Name: Employer Responsibilities Under the Affordable Care Act - Nov. 13
Date: November 13, 2014
Time: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM EST
Registration: Register Now
Event Description:

If you are an owner or manager of a small business and you have questions about your responsibility to provide access to health insurance for your employees under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Tompkins Chamber can help. Though the Chamber will not be providing Navigator services for individuals this year, the Chamber IS providing assistance to businesses through the Community Health Advocates program as a subcontract with the Human Service Coalition of Tompkins County.

Jean McPheeters will present a brief workshop on employer responsibilities; the fines that some businesses will be required to pay if they don’t provide insurance that meets the minimum requirements and the price limits; the SHOP Marketplace through the NYS of Health Marketplace; available plans; the right way to count your employees under the ACA; and the tax credit available to some businesses (including not-for-profits). She will also answer questions and arrange to meet individually with you if more consultation is needed.

There will be two one-hour workshops presented in November. The first will be on Thursday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m.; the second on Tuesday, November 18 at 9:00 a.m.  Both will be held at the Chamber of Commerce. There is no charge for either workshop, but please register on-line or call 273-7080 so that we’ll know how many people to expect.

Also, while businesses with fewer than 50 employees have no requirements under the Affordable Care Act, it is extremely likely that your employees may ask you questions about the ACA. Make plans to attend one of the workshops.
