Job Description
Tompkins Chamber is hiring!  The Tompkins County ERN Success Coach will support the mission, strategy, and work plan goals of the newly formed Tompkins County Employee Resource Network (TC ERN) through implementation of membership acquisition, employee retention strategies; and work with TC ERN Members by offering support and resources for member’s employees.  

The selected candidate will work with their supervisor, Chamber staff, and Board/volunteers to ensure effective member services delivery. This individual will regularly visit members in person and by phone to ensure open lines of communication and top-notch relationship management, have a thorough knowledge of the resources and supports available in our community to help businesses grow and thrive here, and participate in systematic billing and reporting structures to meet membership revenue goals.  

The pay range for this position is $29.23-32.05 per hour, dependent on relevant experience and career tenure. This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. Typical work week schedule is 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, with limited events after hours as needed. We are a flexible, hybrid workplace, with main offices located on Ithaca’s West End. PURPOSE:
The Tompkins County ERN Success Coach will support area businesses and employers by administering an Employer Resource Network and acting as Success Coach to their employees, coordinating and offering training programs applicable to our partners and members, offering direct technical assistance and resource referrals, and support workforce development and business attraction efforts in Tompkins County.  

JOB DUTIES: 
Employer Resource Network (ERN) Success Coach offerings (50%) 
  • Meet monthly with national ERN USA partners who provide leadership, mentorship, and technical assistance. 
  • Work closely with internal staff, TC ERN team, and human resources and/or management representatives, as well as employees from member companies to deliver resources and TC ERN services to area employers who become TC ERN members.  
  • Proactively build relationships with employees for the TC ERN program by visiting work sites, developing and delivering publicity and outreach materials to drive utilization (in conjunction with marketing team members). 
  • Develop an individual, tailored assistance plan for each employee user after conducting an oral needs assessment and interview; identify barriers to employment and assess appropriateness of training/educational services; document outreach activities for ongoing evaluation.  
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive local/regional resource bank to be utilized to support TC ERN client workforce participants (human services organizations, government supports, etc.). Assist TC ERN member employees in completing written applications for social services when needed. 
  • Be trained in appropriate metrics utilized to track performance, services provided, and ROI to TC ERN partners.  
  • Work with ERN USA consultant and President to determine our metrics/report regularly to investors, committees, Board, and grant funders.  
  • Update computer database client files by recording each contact made with employees and maintain records required for follow-up. 
  • Participate in state and national Peer Learning activities to share and build best practices. 
Coordinate Educational Programs/Trainings for Members and Partners (35%)  
  • Hospitality, Tourism, Customer Service training program coordination: 
  • Support establishment of new hospitality and customer service training program 
  • Conduct outreach to partners; engage partners in registering staff to take training 
  • Monitor progress, gather data, and coordinate reporting for program.  
  • Provide certificates of completion for all trainees  
  • Coordinate and lead familiarization tours for participating trainees, plus internal and external stakeholders as requested  
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications team to develop program materials and promotional strategy  
Resource Provision & Outreach to Members/Partners (15%)  
  • Provide technical assistance and critical information to members, partners, and community stakeholders in areas of community, economic, and workforce development, as these program areas intersect with the work of the Chamber/CVB; make appropriate referrals to other community resources. 
  • Provide resources and content for the Chamber and CVB newsletters on a regular basis. 
  • Monitor progress on all direct oversight areas and submit a monthly summary/report of progress to the President, for inclusion in Board and stakeholder reports.  
  • Serve as key liaison supporting several of the Chamber’s key workforce partner relationships, such as PTech, Career Pathways, and others.  
  • Represent the Chamber at relevant events and in relationships with those whose work supports the mission of the organization and our connections to and impact on the community. 
Other duties as assigned.  

Essential Functions 
This role is a combination of desk work (hybrid in-office/remote) and onsite, hands-on work that requires time moving about an office and/or a neutral meeting space in both indoor and outdoor settings. This role includes some lifting and packing to prepare for training sessions, site visits, and familiarization tours. 
Scheduling for this role will require allowance for a small amount of after-hours work, but also includes the autonomy to maintain a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the program as well as the Success Coach.  

Candidate Profile & Position Requirements: 

Experience & Education:
Either three years’ relevant experience or a relevant higher education degree plus one year of experience is required. Relevancy includes one or more of the following: workforce development, human services, program administration, business resource provision/referrals. A positive attitude, ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment are requirements of this position. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, the ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion when handling information, initiative, and confidently managing one’s work program area. A commitment to and understanding of the benefits of a workplace culture elevating diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential. 

Required or Desired Characteristics:
This role is ideal for someone who has demonstrated experience with administering programs, mentoring, and working directly with clients. The ability to demonstrate sound understanding of documentation, data collection, handling confidential and sensitive information; respond sensitively, in a timely manner, with patience and understanding to member companies, employee users, management, referral sources, and the public. NYS Motor Vehicle license; ability to lift up to 40 lbs. is necessary.

PERFORMANCE FACTORS:   
A separate work plan document will be generated identifying the specific Goals/Objectives for the employee work program area annually, to be utilized to gauge objectives and performance. Quality of program management/administration and satisfaction of stakeholders; administration of grant programs or reporting to funding sources are sustaining factors.
