DESCRIPTION:Please join the Tompkins Chamber for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new Yurt at Ithaca Children's Garden!\n\n\n\nRemarks by:\n\nJennifer Tavares\, President & CEO\, Tompkins Chamber\n\nCandice Meade\, Executive Director\, Ithaca Children's Garden\n\n\n\nIthaca Children's Garden celebrates the opening of its first indoor classroom.\n\n\n\nThe endeavor to bring a four-season shelter to Ithaca Children's Garden to protect the most vulnerable from weather extremes has been many years in the making. Construction on the community-supported 30-foot yurt began this spring\, continued throughout the summer\, and is now complete\; just in time to be used for winter.\n\n\n\n"As the season grows cold\, support from the ICG community is felt even more and has made possible a critically needed piece of Garden infrastructure." says Ithaca Children's Garden Executive Director\, Candice Meade "The yurt improves health and safety while keeping the magical spark of the Garden aflame during freezing temperatures and dangerous weather. And the children look eagerly toward the enjoyment of their new\, sheltered program space!"\n\n\n\nHighlights of the yurt include:\n\n\n	ADA compliant restroom outfitted with a baby changing station\n	Additional hand washing facilities and drinking fountains exterior to the restroom\n	ADA compliant wrap-around deck and access ramp\n	Full electrical with heating and cooling.\n\n\nTo celebrate the completion of the yurt\, ICG is holding two community events at Ithaca Children's Garden\, 121 Turtle Lane:\n\n\n\nCelebrate the yurt's grand opening\, and meet the hearts and hands behind the yurt's installation on Wednesday\, November 2nd at 12 PM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce.\n\n\n\nSee the inside of the yurt that will be used as a program hub at their open house event on Saturday\, November 5th from 11 AM to 1 PM.
