Business and Operations Manager at Ithaca Waldorf School

The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking a member of the leadership team to carry the finance and operations responsibilities. The ideal candidate is versed in business management responsibilities of a growing school, non-profit, or business, and can transition seamlessly between strategy-setting, implementation and day-to-day administration. Most aspects of this work are self managed. While some of the work can be completed off-site, it is expected that the business manager will be regularly on-site. Currently, the Ithaca Waldorf school extends from Grade One through Eight, in addition to providing full day Early Childhood programs, which are fully accredited by the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (www.waldorfearlychildhood.org).  


The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through eighth grade.  IWS is also an Associate Member School of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (www.waldorfeducation.org).  Our school is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and an educational farm. We do important work providing hands-on, outdoor focused education with an artistic approach. Our Faculty, Administration and Board enjoy a warm collegial relationship and work collaboratively to strengthen the school’s growth. 

 
  • The financial responsibilities include budgeting, tracking, forecasting and reporting. All those responsibilities that keep the school strong and on track.

  • The operations component of the work includes having an overall awareness of the daily needs of the students, faculty, staff and parents and helping to orchestrate the best outcomes. 
     

We hope candidates will bring an accounting degree or equivalent experience and skill set that will support success in the work. Communication skills, both oral and written, are very important. The underpinnings of Waldorf education includes respect for each member of the community; having this as a tenant of our work creates a kind, caring and thoughtful environment for work.

The annual salary for this full-time position with a pay range of $52,000 - $58,000, depending on experience.
