Membership & Development Manager

The Tompkins Chamber is seeking a motivated Membership & Development Manager to implement a successful membership recruitment and retention strategy, offer support and resources to member businesses and organizations, assist in developing long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our stakeholders and community partners, and share our vision of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive business community.

The selected candidate will work with the President, Board/volunteers, and the Chamber team to achieve goals for membership-related revenue. This individual will regularly visit members in person and by phone, through email, and virtual meetings to ensure open lines of communication and quality service, have a thorough knowledge of the resources and supports available in our community to help businesses grow and thrive here, and support our members in achieving their goals.

Strong planning and organizing skills are required, as are excellent judgment, initiative and creativity. The ideal candidate will have a 2-year degree in sales/marketing, business, or a related field, and minimum 2 years’ experience in business, economic, or community development work, customer relations, or membership relations. Related experience as a substitute for education will be considered. Strong community relations skills and ability to work with and motivate volunteers are essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
