The Director of Facilities Operations Opportunity:
The Director of Facilities Operations in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business will manage, prioritize, and direct the maintenance operations of the Statler Hotel and Statler Hall, both buildings part of the Nolan School of Hotel Administration, while cultivating strong partnerships with key stakeholders. This position serves as the main point of contact with our central facilities zone structure to ensure work completed by our zone service providers is in accordance with Cornell processes. Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities and Planning in the Cornell SC College of Business, this role will directly supervise a team of 7 Maintenance Mechanics and 2 Building Coordinators as well as provide high level supervision of 9 Custodians to ensure the smooth operation of a 24/7 four Diamond Hotel and high traffic school building. The Director of Facilities Operations will manage the development and implementation of building condition assessments while advocating and prioritizing needs for routine and planned maintenance. This role will strategize and forecast these maintenance needs in collaboration with stakeholders and will develop and ensure appropriate communication and guidance related to procedures and policies. The Director of Facilities Operations will manage the development and planning of the scope of construction and renovation projects, partnering with stakeholders to determine needs and provide guidance related to contractor selection and project expectations. They will collaborate with stakeholders on budget development while monitoring expenses against budget and recommending strategies for cost efficiencies. This role will also oversee the use of existing facilities and participate in short- and long-term planning for the renovation of existing facilities or the construction of any potential new facilities.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or other formal training program with 5-7 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or construction; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

General knowledge of a variety of building systems, such as electrical, HVAC, ATC controls, piping, fire protection, roofing, fenestrations, etc.

Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks and prioritize projects effectively.

Ability to lift 20 lbs. independently (and occasionally more with assistance) and physically inspect each facility and follow up on maintenance needs on routine basis (covering approximately 350,000 square feet).

Must be able to negotiate stairs, ladders and spaces of varying dimensions.

Demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree or additional professional experience beyond 5 to 7 years in a related field.

Prior experience performing facilities related work in a large-scale or highly complex environment.

Previous experience working in an academic or campus setting. Project management or project lead experience.

Experience with CAD and ability to understand construction documents.

Pay Range: $93,713.00 - $114,538.00
