Job Description
The City of Ithaca is now accepting applications for the position of Recreation Facility Maintenance Worker.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Bargaining Unit: CSEA DPW Unit
Salary:  $22.11/Hour - $26.53/Hour
 
Position DescriptionThe work involves responsibility for the semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and cleaning of municipal recreational facilities including but not limited to swimming pools, ice rinks, athletic fields, tennis courts, pavilions, restrooms/locker rooms, buildings, park grounds, and playgrounds.  The incumbent also assists skilled workers on such projects.  Although a working knowledge of one or more trades is necessary, a Recreation Facility Maintenance Worker does not utilize skilled techniques for a considerable portion of his/her time.  The incumbent also uses tools, operates equipment and performs manual labor related to the projects to which assigned. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Recreation Maintenance Supervisor.  General instructions are received regarding routine jobs with detailed instructions on new, unusual or difficult assignments.  Supervision of others is not a function of this class.  Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year of full-time paid experience, or its part-time paid equivalent, in parks, grounds, forestry or building maintenance.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
 
  1. Possession of a valid New York State Class D driver license or a valid driver license equivalent to a New York State Class D driver license at the time of appointment and maintenance of said license for the duration of employment.
 
  1. Candidates must obtain an appropriate pool operator certificate, as required by the New York State Department of Health, within one (1) year of appointment, and must maintain said certification for the duration of appointment.
 
Residency Requirements:  There are no residency requirements for this position.
