Program: ESSHI West End Heights Apartments, Ithaca NY
Shift Schedule: Wednesday – Thursday 1:00pm – 6:00pm & Friday – Saturday 2:00pm – 7:00pm 
Salary: Pay range is min. $16.38 to a max. $21.33 per hr. based on education & experience

Essential Job Functions Overview

With the general supervision of the Program Director, will function as a role model to peers, demonstrating competency in principles of recovery and development of effective coping strategies. Provides advocacy, offering consumer information in order to assist facilitate linkages to essential resources. Performs a wide range of recovery-based services to assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. Individual should strive to create a healing environment that respects the perspectives and experiences of the individuals, families, staff and communities we serve by practicing safe, respectful communication as well as respecting individuals’ boundaries and differences.

 Essential Job Functions

  1. Serves as an active member of the treatment team, including participation in team meetings and treatment planning meetings as needed.
  2. Assists peers in development of recovery plan.
  3. Provides psycho-education with focus on assisting with referrals and linkages to essential services.
  4. Serves as role model by sharing own recovery process and teaching effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  5. Provides case management, resourcing, service collaboration on an as needed basis in collaboration with care management and/or supportive housing services.
  6. Maintains accurate, thorough records and uses documentation to assist clients in evaluating progress.
  7. Provides advocacy services on behalf of clients.
  8. Informs supervisor, and other members of treatment team as indicated, of issues/concerns related to individual clients.
  9. Provide guidance, instruction, and support for residents based on evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.
  10. Assist residents in clarifying their goals for rehabilitation and recovery.
  11. Assist residents in monitoring progress of stated goals and provide services from individualized service plans.
  12. Share personal experience to support others’ recovery in an appropriate and respectful manner
  13. May carry a small caseload

 Experience, Education, & Physical Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with special needs consumers in a recovery-based or vocational/rehabilitative setting. Lived experience with mental health services required. Completion of or significant progress toward the Peer Certification Program is required within one (1) year of hire date. Possession of the CPRP credential is a plus. Must have a valid driver license or be eligible for the appropriate NY State driver license at time of application (as driving is an essential function of this position).

 Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of mental health issues and support services; the special and incidental needs of persons affected by mental illness; psychology, personality, and group dynamics; the human services system; principles and practices of conflict and crisis management; the recovery based psychiatric model of service delivery. Has a basic understanding of the importance of working from a trauma sensitive perspective. Motor Vehicle regulations and safe driving techniques; general knowledge of geographical area; Knowledge of Crisis Intervention and Early Engagement.
