How would you like to hire an employee or promote a current worker and get some money to help pay for the hours of training time needed to get that employee to full capacity? Well now you can. But you need to do it soon.
The Tompkins Chamber has again been awarded $107,000 from the New York State Department of Labor to help companies and organizations hire and train workers. Approximately 25 businesses will be awarded $3,200 on average to pay for up to 50% of the new trainee’s salary during an eight to twelve week period. Grants are available starting immediately, but the entire training period needs to be completed by early October, so the paperwork process needs to begin very soon.
Grants are only available for new hires or promotions and all the paperwork has to be completed BEFORE the hiring or promotion occurs. These grants are only for full-time workers (at least 35 hours per week) and you do not need to be a Chamber member. Grants are available for both profit and not-for-profit organizations.
The Chamber will host a free information session on Tuesday, April 14 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Chamber, 904 East Shore Drive, Ithaca. To attend, click the REGISTER button, or call (607) 273-7080.
If you want to know more, or are planning to hire someone immediately, please CLICK HERE where details about the grant as well as necessary forms are available. Jean McPheeters will be serving as the OJT Coordinator through her business, Jean McPheeters Consulting LLC.
