"A Setback Ain't Nothing but a Setup for a Comeback": short plays by local men and women who have been incarcerated
The Re-entry Theatre Program presents this one-of-a-kind evening featuring work created by local men and women who have been incarcerated and have faced -- or are currently facing -- the challenges of re-entering their community after being in jail or prison. Having taken a playwriting course run by Civic Ensemble theatre company since March 1, these new playwrights are presenting their creations with the help of professional actors. The work is still unfolding, but it will be unlike anything else you'll see on a local stage this year.
This is a free event. After the show, there will be a reception in the Hangar lobby, where you will have the chance to talk with the participants.
Wed., April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at The Hangar Theatre, 801 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850 (607) 273-8588
This program will help participants take a positive step toward greater stability, which for some means securing employment, and will give potential employers insights into reasons to consider hiring ex-offenders. The participants and the audience will share a meaningful evening at the theater and leave everyone with food for thought.
