It's Your Business: Welcoming China to Ithaca

How can your business and our community be more inclusive of Chinese travelers? What is necessary to assure a non-English speaking visitor from China feels more comfortable at your location?

How can you better prepare for Chinese travelers? What is UnionPay and how can you incorporate it to support travelers and tourists?

These questions and more will be answered at It's Your Business: Welcoming China to Ithaca, a program specifically designed to better prepare Tompkins County to engage with, and welcome, Chinese travelers. 

There are more than 9,000 students from China and other Asian countries enrolled at our local university and colleges. Many reside here for four to seven years and will encourage their family and friends to visit them. 

The average Chinese visitor spends more than $15,000 in the US over a 2-week period! They are looking for authentic experiences, interesting shopping, and getting to know people here. Almost every Chinese tourist visiting the US carries UnionPay cards, which are credit cards that can be processed through the Discover network and several others.
