Event Description:

The Tompkins Chamber welcomes any businesses who have been thinking about hiring an intern but have no idea where to start to attend this workshop!

Internships provide a great way for students, both high school and college, to gain real-world experience and skills while giving employers access to developing talent. However, a truly stellar internship is more than just "copies and coffee" - it's a structured learning experience that meets the student's goals and the organization's needs. Join Jonathan Chalmers, School of Business Career Engagement Specialist from Ithaca College's Center for Career Exploration and Development, for a step-by-step workshop on how to plan, develop, recruit, and manage a successful college student internship.

We've invited some special guests to contribute to the conversation.

Dara Riegal, Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Experiential Learning at Tompkins Cortland Community College can share her first hand experience working with college students.

Billie Downs from the Central Groton School District will be available to share her experience running a pilot summer student internship program and highlight Groton's STEAM program to potential business partners.
