Event Description:
The workshop, led by Jocelyn Thornton of the Small Business Development Center, is designed to help women and minority business owners determine:
- what it means to become a certified business
- what new opportunities might be available to them as either prime or subcontractors on a project
- what tools are available to navigate the bidding process to gain new contracts.
NYS Certified MWBE businesses can benefit by receiving preferred status when bidding on government contracts, higher education contracts, and other new business opportunities made available to NYS Certified MWBE firms. The Chamber seeks to help locally owned small businesses capitalize on new business opportunities by exploring whether this particular opportunity is right for them. Technical assistance to those who wish to pursue certification is available through a regional program offered by New York State, and workshop attendees will be connected with individuals who can support them through the application process.
Sponsored by the Workforce Diversity & Inclusion Committee of Tompkins County. Space is limited to the first 30 participants.
