Event Description:
Learn how Bensvue Organic Dairy in Lansing uses a 5 million gallon pond in the middle of its grazing system to mitigate the risk of drought. Organic dairies are required to provide 30 percent of the cow diet from pasture for 120 days. Also see plot of Sanfoin, a legume used in Russia and Saskatchewan. Cornell Cooperative Extension Educator Fay Benson will provide info on crop insurance tools to manage farm risks.
