Session 4: Creating Mindful Businesses and Organizations

“To realize that you are not your thoughts is when you begin to awaken.” —Eckhart Tolle
Using an engaging, non-judgmental model that allows participants, who may have never meditated before, the opportunity to quickly access this mindful approach to dealing with difficult moments, situations, and challenges, we find that breakthroughs in how we approach conflict and other difficult situations can happen almost immediately. By focusing inward, drawing attention from our thoughts, we can work more deeply to address our heart-based values, which often get suppressed by overactive minds that can, if left to their own devices, jump to conclusions. Through a combination of research, compassionate inquiry, and Q & A, participants will understand how to use mindfulness as a tool to reduce stress, decrease conflict, and increase personal awareness and understanding. These are incredibly easy-to-learn tools that can become powerful assets in our emotional intelligence toolbox when striving to create bias-free workplaces and spaces.

Many Chamber businesses and organizations are asking what they can do to respond to systemic racism, workplace inequities, and exclusionary cultures in the current moment. Several Chamber members put out public statements regarding racism and issues of equity and inclusion but may not have all of the tools they need to challenge institutionalized forms of discrimination and inequality to build a better world.
