Our mission is to engage students, community members, and visitors in learning about the ecology and history of Cayuga Lake and its watershed and to inspire people to maintain these healthy environments for future generations. We also aim to provide equitable access to Cayuga Lake and to foster appreciation of the importance of the Finger Lakes watersheds for local ecosystems, human use, and natural beauty.
Since 2003, Discover Cayuga Lake (formerly known as the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom) has provided hands-on learning opportunities in the interest of sustaining our Finger Lakes waterways for future generations. We offer eco-cruises on Cayuga Lake (May-October), class experiences doing science on the lake for grades 5 and up, Trout in the Classroom (October-May), and a variety of stream-based field trips. Our boat, the MV Teal is based out of Allan Treman State Park Marina in Ithaca, NY. We serve communities throughout the Cayuga Lake watershed, and we conduct additional educational activities throughout the broader region. Please join us aboard our boat for a cruise! Private Charters are also available.
