The YMCA of Ithaca is a charity-driven organization that serves everyone in the Tompkins County area. The Y's focus of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility is offered through memberships and programming to persons of all nationalities, demographics, income levels, religious beliefs, and family categories. The Y provides financial assistance to those who apply for scholarship and fall within the income level guidelines. The Y is dedicated to addressing the social and health challenges that are prevalent in our society, including diabetes prevention; childhood obesity; youth summer learning loss; nutrition education; after-school programs to provide safe environments and healthy snacks; programming for senior adults, in observation of our largest-growing demographic, the baby-boomers; and socially responsible workshops, volunteer efforts, and collaborations.
The main facility houses fitness areas, swimming pools and lessons, youth sports, gymnasium, functional training equipment, group fitness classes, personal training, corporate outreach, aquacize, swim teams, childcare, school age child care, racquetball, basketball for all ages, wellness workshops and lectures, summer camps, outdoor education at the YMCA Outdoor Educationj Center on Mecklenburg Road.
