Shaw & Murphy, PLLC represents a unique opportunity for experienced lawyers looking to have control over their own work/life balance. We are looking for a lawyer with at least 6 or more years of experience.
Our practice focuses on providing high-quality legal service to the people who make Central New York the thriving interesting place it is today. We help clients with buying their first home, planning for retirement or building a commercial real estate business. Non-profit organizations, particularly student residential groups (like fraternities and sororities), use our services to help enhance the literary, artistic and environmental life of our area. Young clients look for our help in starting their first businesses and experienced entrepreneurs use us to keep their businesses running smoothly. We help people from all walks of life with criminal matters. While we litigate regularly in City, Town, County Family, Surrogate and Supreme Court, we do so with a firm grounding in alternative dispute resolution, offering and encouraging negotiation, mediation and Collaborative Law to our clients.
Ideal candidates will have some experience in appearing in court, interacting directly with clients and attracting their own clients. Given our direct contacts with clients and Courts, this position cannot be done remotely. We do, however, have flexible office hours and some work-from-home options. Salary range will be based on experience and will likely fall between $80,000 and $90,000 with the opportunity for performance-based compensation in addition to salary.
We are a small firm on purpose, looking to add one or two more lawyers to our team. We understand that having a rich personal life builds the foundation of good lawyering. If you are looking to make a change in your life, we’d look forward to talking with you.
Please email a cover letter describing your experience and goals, a resume, a writing sample and references to Liam Murphy at atredo@shawlawfirm.com. We will be verifying admission to the New York bar in our process. If you have the required experience and are planning to make an application to the New York Bar, please share that in your covering letter.
